Yesterday, May 7, 2013, Pierce The Veil released a new music
video to a single off of their newest album,
Collide With The Sky. The meaning behind the song its self is very deep. Bulls in the Bronx was written after PTV
was emailed by multiple friends of a girl from Australia. All the emails
explained how their friend took her own life and how she loved the band. This
hit the band very hard especially since the band remembered meeting her. The
music video was a disappointment to me and others. The video featured a girl
who looked like a perfect student that many would consider a nerd. The girl
comes home as a nerd and says hello to her dad then goes upstairs. As soon as
she goes inside she completely changes from a nerd type style to a very provocative
type. A boy sneaks into her room and then it goes to a fantasy/ dream where the
boy is a bull fighter and then gets hit by the bull which then switches to the
girl’s father. The boy is then chased out of the house by the father. This is
the gist of the whole video. The video has absolutely NOTHING to do with the
lyrics. There was so much potential for this video and PTV advertised the video
heavily for about a week. Everyone was amped up for it then when it finally
came it was a huge let down. The angles and the cuts of the video went with the
lyrics and the music though. The videography was good and done very well; there
were a few questionable cuts, but overall it was well done. PTV is a very artistic
band though and they were doing something different. The song has such great
meaning and it is still very close to my heart, but the video just did not live
up to it.
